Itinerary: Chalk Ridge Falls Park

We spent more time this park that I thought we would, but all that time was filled with so much fun.

A couple weeks ago, I took some friends with me to Chalk Ridge Falls Park in Belton, Texas. I was in desperate need of an adventure and was very excited to get to this park. Since it was my idea, I did all the planning to figure out drive time and the amount of time I wanted to spend at the park to make it worth it. Here is a quick breakdown of how the day went.

10:00am - Leave College Station, Texas

11:30am - Arrive in Belton, Texas

Explore the opening of the trail - The trail breaks off in two directions after crossing a couple bridges. We went to the left to head towards the waterfall (not really sure what went the other way haha). After walking about a quarter mile, you come up on the small waterfall area. Continue down the trail and cross the “Insta-famous” suspension bridge.

1:00pm - Came across some benches (set up by a Boy Scouts Projects) to stop and eat a picnic lunch I packed

1:45pm - Adventure further down the trail to the end

There are lots of spaces to stop and explore more along the main trail. The actual trail is only a couple miles long, but my friends and I made a few stops along the way to explore different side trails. We skipped rocks, crawled across a tree hanging over the water, and climbed on some rocks to see higher.

2:45pm - Reach the end of the trail and head back towards the car

3:30pm - Leave Belton

5:00pm - Arrive in College Station

There is only one major trail at Chalk Ridge Falls (shown on AllTrails) that is 2.5 miles out and back. It may not seem like that would be much, but there are still plenty of things to do and explore within the park. There is also another park nearby (Miller Springs Nature Trail) with more miles of hiking you can go to if don’t spend as much time that you would like at Chalk Ridge Falls.
