Reflecting on 2020 + Our Goals for 2021

With everything that has happened this year, it is so important to focus on the good things.

Wow, what a year 2020 has been! It’s easy to remember all of the bad circumstances that got brought up in the past year; there was lots of heartache, a pandemic, and certain parts of our lives that came to a close. However, there was also a lot of good that came out of these trying times; school went online, Bryce and I both graduated college, and we created goals together. This year has also led us to think big and dream new dreams.

As some of you may know, Bryce and I started this little project after the pandemic and lockdown hit the United States. It all started when we visited Pedernales Falls at the beginning of spring break. Soon after, Texas A&M was extending spring break and eventually moved classes online. We had a lot of free time on our hands after this and wanted to spend as much of it outside as we could. We would play baseball together, picked up disc golf, and found out that a lot of Texas State Parks were less than 2 hours away from College Station, Texas. I wanted us to be able to document our adventures through photographs and written stories. And as our ability to travel has taken a hit, I want to be able to provide tips and motivation to people to get outdoors!

In the last year, Bryce and I have also both graduated from Texas A&M University! I’m extremely proud of both of us for this accomplishment. Bryce is now working full-time while I work part-time at the job we both had throughout college. I’m pursuing different passion projects and on the hunt for a full-time job. I like to dream big, but one downside to this year is the current climate of the job market caused by the pandemic (so time to be a little practical). This is also why I’m pursuing different passion projects in the hopes of one day monetizing them as other ways to earn money. I believe this is something unique about society today; we are intrigued by content and want to consume all that we can.

As we look forward to 2021, it is so fun to dream up all of the plans we want to create for ourselves. We have some goals like adding 5 more State Parks to our total, visiting at least one National Park, and taking the time to explore more of our local parks. This year I have found a new love of nature and being outdoors. It is a place to find peace and relaxation even among the chaos that can be happening all around us. Nature was one of the best escapes that Bryce and I had this past year.

Thank you for coming along this journey with us, and we are so excited for what 2021 is going to bring!
