We will take any chance we can get to go explore the great outdoors.
While visiting state parks is amazing, we can’t forget about the other parks scattered throughout our great state! Bryce and I had the chance to explore different parks around Wimberley, Texas recently. We only had one morning to explore the small town since I still had class most of the afternoon. The first stop was a local neighborhood park that Bryce wanted to check out then we wanted to see two well-known names of the area.
Disc Golf at Morrows Park
If you have read any of our other blogs or follow us on Instagram, you are aware that we are big fans of playing disc golf. There just so happened to be a park a short walk away from where Bryce is living that is filled with all kinds of activities, one of which being a disc golf course. It is fairly small compared to others we have played; it is a 9-hole course and good for those just starting out or those looking to get some technical practice in. We also had the chance to go back to the park later in the day to play a little basketball.
Hiking Through Blue Hole Regional Park
We had heard of Blue Hole being a great place to cool off during the summer. However, with summer reservations being over and the environment of the park needing to recoup, no more swimming is allowed. That didn't stop us from hiking through the area to see the beautiful blue water! The sight was absolutely breathtaking; the water was so blue and the leaves had started to change colors. After checking out the water, we walked a couple miles around the rest of the park. There is lots to do around Blue Hole Regional Park, plenty of hiking trails along with different fields and courts to play on.
Climbing Old Baldy
All we had to do was climb 218 steps in order to see the marvelous view of the Wimberley valley. Now, 218 steps might not seem like a difficult task, and probably isn’t to most of you, but it was a bit of a struggle for me. I’m used to walking through the flat lands of Texas and haven’t quite made it to the level of climbing mountains. But don’t worry guys, I made it to the top and loved the view. Some of the trees had started to change colors while others remained green and full of nutrients; it was a very cool combination of colors. Another cool thing about climbing up Old Baldy is that someone placed decorated rocks along the sides of the steps to bring some encouragement to those making the trek up to the top; they definitely helped haha!
It was so fun exploring this small city of our great state of Texas. There is so much more to Wimberley than just these three parks. With Bryce living there now, we get the chance to explore the town some more each time I get to go visit. Stay tuned for more adventures through Wimberley and the rest of Texas!
